Silver Wijk’s sustainability work includes social, economical, and environmental factors. We believe it’s important to keep a viable rural economy and to protect Swedish nature – but we also want to contribute to a better world globally. We think that nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something!
This is examples of what Silver Wijk does:
- Emelie has chosen to place her boutiques in the countryside to contribute to a vibrant rural area and create employment opportunities locally.
- Silver Wijk prefers to work with local suppliers and local companies when possible. For example, laser cutting, printing services, accounting and communications services is all handled by local companies. This is to benefit the local business community.
- All silver and gold products made in the smithy are made with recycled material.
- Silver Wijk always advocates the use of certified ethical diamonds when designing jewelry.
Blood, Sweat & Tears – the jewelry that makes a difference!
The project that lies closest to Emelie´s heart is the collaboration with Africraft, Future of Hope and ESHASP. Together they raise money to a project focused on helping young girls in Nairobi’s slum to stay in school after they get their period. Many girls are forced to quit school since they don’t have access to menstrual products. Read more about the project here. For this project, Emelie designed a piece of jewelry in the form of a drop that is called “Blood, Sweat & Tears”
